The Opportunity

Reporting to Chief Actuary, the incumbent will lead government programs pricing focused on effective implementation of corporate pricing strategies.  This position will oversee government programs rate development in both existing and new markets.  The incumbent will be required to use substantial judgment when determining actuarial assumptions and methodologies and will be the primary point of contact for management to obtain services and reports.  The successful candidate will ensure a streamlined set of controls are established to govern pricing functions corporately.  Manage 6 analysts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the preparation and submission of Medicare Advantage bids to CMS, and of Medicare Supplement filings to the New York State Department of Insurance.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of Child Health Plus rate applications to the New York State Department of Health, and of Healthy New York rate filings to the New York State Department of Insurance.
  • Handle actuarial audit requests from federal and state regulators and rate reviewers.
  • Mentor and develop junior Medicare Pricing Team staff.  
  • Develop and maintain efficient and streamlined systems and procedures for producing team deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform various ad hoc analyses relating to actual or projected performance of the Government Programs book of business, either in whole or in part.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts and ASA; Masters, FSA, and seven years experience preferred
