Eight reasons for rejection

1.  Poor physical presentation.  Candidate does not present professionally in manner, dress, or hairstyle.

 

2.  Poor communication skillsetCandidate does not offer enough information to convince, does not answer questions precisely, is hard to understand, or makes assumptions that prove incorrect.

 

3.  Lack of preparationCandidate demonstrates lack of competence, motivation, understanding, or interest by not preparing adequately for one or more steps of the recruiting process.

 

4.  Marketplace prima donnaCandidate comes off as out-of-touch or arrogant by overestimating their marketplace value. 

 

5.  Unpersuasive CandidacyNo WOW-appeal.   Interviewer is notconvinced that Candidate understands what the job entails, can perform all aspects of the job, is a top performer, or that they will fit in with corporate culture.

 

6.  No management potentialCandidate presents as individual performer lacking the requisite accomplishments, interpersonal skills, or collaboration orientation for management positions.

 

7.  No executive presence.  Candidate does not exhibit the required clarity of vision, goal orientation, or presentation skills that inspire confidence in their ability to lead.

 

8.  Position is ill-defined.  Candidate interviews early in the process before employer is clear on the requirements of a successful Candidacy
